Here's a little summary of the Wendling family history as I know it.
My line of Wendlings dates back to the Alsace-Lorraine area of France. In 1855 Francois Seraphin Wendling and his wife, Mary Victoria Dietsch, left France for America. The lived in Illinois for a bit and then settled in Independence, Iowa, on a farm of about 100 acres. My father (John Wendling) was born on the same Farm but moved to the city and I was born in Cedar Rapids, IA.
